Sky Dance is a collaboration between my fabricator, nature, the viewers and myself. My aim was to create an interactive piece whereby people’s experience of the windows shifts depending on their particular position in the space, the weather conditions, the time of day, and the time of year. In this way, something familiar can remain surprising and renewing. The windows cast images and color into the Commons depending on natural conditions. For me, the pureness of color offers joy. The floating forms evoke calm and fluidity. The sunbeams suggest hope. The geometric forms suggest order and variation.
I love the windows, rising up to greet the sky, and the reflection down to the earth. Such a harmonious connection between the realms. And of course, your use of metaphor to generate images that leap beyond their boundaries is wonderful.”

The combination of all these different stripes is like the diversity that makes up our community.”
—Sophomore student, Auburn High School
How lovely to find this as I sat outside for lunch on a cloudy day and just as I finished watching the video the sun came out. How wonderful for students to experience this art installation that will lift and inspire them… These students reflect on the light and color that illuminates a first crush or pulls them out of a funk on a bad day. So beautiful, so important.”
